Plan it is an environmental initiative aimed at promoting sustainable, environmentally responsible good corporate citizenship. Members of the Plan it group are committed to minimising the environmental impact of their business activities.

As part of the Plan it group Fyran is actively pursuing an environmentally responsible approach to boat building. Fyran boats are manufactured from aluminium base stocks that contain up to 75 % recycled material. Aluminium is the only boat building material that is virtually infinitely recyclable. Boats constructed from aluminium are lighter than boats constructed from conventional materials. Lighter boats require less power resulting in lower fuel consumption and reduced exhaust gas emissions. Lighter boats are more easily towed, so the tow vehicle uses less fuel and also has reduced exhaust gas emissions.

In 2007 Fyran invested in a CNC router, a computer controlled precision machine that accurately cuts aluminium sheet, minimising waste. The joints that require welding are significantly more accurate than those achieved by hand cutting resulting in quicker welding using less electricity. Whilst plasma cutters are more common, plasma cutters emit environmentally harmful smoke and fumes, one of which, aluminium oxide, has been linked with the development of Altzhiemer's disease. Fyran has also invested in 8 new welding machines that are up to 10% more efficient than the models they replace. Further energy savings have been achieved with the installation of the latest technology high efficiency air compressor. Whilst having excess capacity for current operational requirements the air compressor has been geared down to supply current factory needs, reducing the amount of energy needed to operate it. This also minimises redundancy as the compressor can be reconfigured rather than replaced as factory expansion occurs. The factory at East Tamaki uses as much natural light as possible to minimise the use of electric lighting. As well as recycling all aluminium waste, Fyran also recycles wood and cardboard packaging material.
